With Cinco de Mayo on Thursday, it's hard to consider tonight the beginning of the weekend. Here's what I've got on my calendar for tonight.

• Long-time friend and guitar virtuoso Brian Nova is back in town and playing with his trio, 7:30 - 10:30, at the North City Wine Bistro in Shoreline. Click HERE for details.
• That wraps up just in time to scoot down to the Seamonster Lounge in Wallingford to catch the latest installment of dirtiest fonk show in town, FUNKY2DEATH.

If you have a "serious case of the Mondays" like I do, I can't think of anything better to pull you out of your funk than THE GOURDS cover of Snoop Dogg's "Gin & Juice". These boys bring it. Patrick Sweany opens.
